UPDATE 4.8 Hero & Item Balance Changes

 Vainglory Update 4.8 is coming to with a fresh round of tweaks to some of your favorite heroes. While some of the changes are small, they should all be impactful and help to up your game! We’ve included notes with some of the changes to help you understand our reasoning. Check out the balance changes coming for Update 4.8 below!

The lazy days of the sweltering summer are over and the season comes to a close. Now it’s time to make way for Fall and an awesome Autumn Season! BLITZ: RELOADED, BUT BETTER!

We’ve taken your feedback and made some changes to our newest mode Blitz: Reloaded (beta)  We want all our Brawl lovers to have a chance to shine in this short fun mode,  so we have taken Talents out of the mode allowing for a true head to head, fast and frenzied skill match up. We also added a bit to the timer to give you more opportunities to take out the enemy without going the full 5 minutes of our regular Blitz Mode. Fire up your favorite heroes for even more turbo takedowns with Blitz: Reloaded in update 4.7!

 

END OF SEASON REWARDS

ISHTAR: THE ANCIENT EVIL

After thousands of years locked away, Ishtar emerges, an ancient evil here to destroy the enemy…much to her delight. Ishtar summons her Blades at will,  and manipulates them to do her bidding.  This blade wielding battle mage uses her basic attacks, and those of her Blades to dominate the battlefield, leaving only destruction in her wake. Unleash the ancient power within when the update drops!

 


HERO ABILITIES


 

 

DEMONIC DECREE (PERK)

Ishtar’s basic attacks deal crystal damage and scale with her overall crystal power.

If Ishtar performs a basic attack in the presence of a Blade, it will also perform a basic attack dealing bonus CP damage.


 SHADOW RAZOR (A)

Ishtar fires a Blade in a straight line that travels toward the target location, dealing damage to all enemies that it passes through. All existing nearby Blades are commanded to dash towards the target location.


 

BLADE WHIRL (B)

Passive: Gains attack speed per level.

Active: Ishtar and all of her Blades perform a spinning slash, dealing damage in an area around them and slowing enemies hit. Landing Blade Whirl gives Ishtar a movement speed boost.


 

ASCENSION (Ultimate)

Ishtar destroys all existing Blades before creating four new ones near her. Afterwards she becomes empowered, gaining a new basic attack as well as additional lifesteal and movement speed.

 


TALENTS


INDOMITABLE (Rare)

Ishtar gains a stack of Indomitable on each hero kill or assist and loses one on death. Each stack grants bonus armor, shield and vampirism. (up to 10 stacks.)

 


PINNED AND NEEDLES (Epic)

Ishtar’s Blade Whirl (B) now will root targets and deal increased damage.

 


RELENTLESS (Legendary)

Every time a Blade is summoned, Ishtar gains additional attack speed for 10 seconds (up to 20 stacks).

Your wish is his command! Our favorite Bleeko’s has a magical new look with this fun and colorful skin. Just a rub of the lantern and, poof!  Genie Flicker  will be available for purchase in the local souq when the update drops!

There cannot be dark without a little light, even for the demon blade herself. Both beautiful and terrifying all at once, Orchid Ishtar is in full bloom in 4.6 and yours for direct purchase at launch. Don’t miss it!

NEW BLITZ MINI MODE – BLITZ: RELOADED!

 

The fast paced and frenzied havoc of Vainglory’s Blitz Mode has been a long time favorite, and while our Brawl modes are a shorter format than standard matches, we’re kicking it up a notch. Introducing Blitz: Reloaded (beta)!

Blitz: Reloaded still holds the main objective of being the first team to reach 15 points, but in this revamped version, you’ll have faster out-of-combat regen, shorter cooldowns, higher starting levels and more. There’s even an extra shop by each team’s second turret to save a little time. Why, you ask? Because time is of the essence in new mini mode Blitz: Reloaded, which ends in two minutes instead of five! That’s right, two minutes of all out fun is headed your way! This new fun mode will be in beta during update 4.6 while we gather your feedback and polish it up. So brush up on your Brawl skills and get ready for the ultimate turbo takedowns with Blitz: Reloaded in update 4.6!

The Vain Crystal defenses were meant to discourage  backdooring the enemy base, but were so powerful that they sometimes dissuaded meaningful pushes unless the team had blackclaw or all team members present. We’re lowering the damage a bit so that it becomes a bit easier to close out games.

Joule proved to be a bit too strong after the recent batch of changes so we’re reverting the damage buff from before. We still want her to maintain her identity as an incredibly durable fighter but we’re toning her damage back down.

Leo is still proving to be too strong so we went ahead and lowered the damage on Crushing Strike even further.

Miho’s damage against Unguarded targets made her monstrously powerful in the late game. These changes should curb that slightly while also giving her more incentive to use her Shingetsu outside of just applying stacks of Keen Eye.

Petal has been out of the meta for a while, so we’re giving her some time in the sun. This change is geared towards making her a more utility oriented carry and making it easier to keep her munions alive at all times.

Rona is a berserker that has a hard time… well, berserking. We’re making it so that Red Mist now is unstoppable and making it so that the correct play is to run away when you see her angry.

Tiger’s Bridge into Divine Fist combo was nearly guaranteed, making his laning phase very powerful. This should make his combo more unreliable at lower levels as well as make players choose which overdrive they want to take first.

This change fixes a bug that was being abused that stopped heroes from walking towards Tony if they hit recall.

MIHO: THE SWIFT SWORD

Meet Miho, a fleet footed hyper carry with a razor sharp sword! Miho is a master of duels who zips around the battlefield picking off enemies. With careful use of her Keen Eye perk, enemies are Unguarded and all of her damage is amplified for a short period of time enabling her to quickly take them out. Follow the way of the sword with Miho when the update drops!

 


HERO ABILITIES


 

 

KEEN EYE (PERK)

Instead of energy, Miho uses Focus for her abilities. Miho’s abilities apply Keen Eye stacks to enemy heroes. Once her stacks are applied, Miho’s next basic attack or Reizan causes them to become Unguarded, stunning and damaging enemies and granting Miho a barrier.


 

REIZAN (A)

Miho teleports, dealing damage to all enemies that she passes through and around the area that she appears. 

Overdrive: This ability is refreshed whenever any enemy becomes Unguarded.


 

SHINGETSU (B)

Miho performs a quick, long range slash that deals damage to all enemies in a line. This ability can be recast immediately until she is out of Focus.

NOTE: To cancel Shingetsu , use the red C ability button (shown below).


 

TSUKUYOMI (Ultimate)

After a brief channel, Miho fires a crescent wave of energy from her blade that deals damage to every target that it passes through. Tsukuyomi will also destroy  enemy projectiles that it passes through and applies Keen Eye stacks to every enemy it hits.

Enemies can no longer become Unguarded but the burst of damage is much greater.


ECLIPSE (Epic)

Tsukuyomi heals allies it passes through and deals increased damage.

When it comes to choosing her engages, Anka had a little too much freedom in team fights. These changes will dial back that window and make it a bit harder for her to straight up assassinate a full health target.

Blackfeather hasn’t seen a lot of success in recent days. These changes should help him get into back the fight and stay there assuming that he is, uhhhh ‘On Point’ about landing his B Ability.

The disparity between the damage Joule sustains on the back versus the front was massive, so we gave her a bit of a bump to her base stats. We also turned her Thunder Strike into weapon damage so she can take advantage of piercing & Breaking Point a bit better.

SILVERNAIL

Silvernail has fallen out of favor in the carry lineup, so we wanted to bump him back up a bit. This should give the grizzled hunter a needed boost to his crossbow.

SKAARF

The general movement speed changes have made it a little difficult for Skaarf to find his place in the meta. These changes should help him land his core ability a little easier.

Triple Tyrants Monocle + Tension Bow Taka has been running amok at higher tiers. His House Kamuha perk was giving a lot of bonus damage to players who decided to stack crit and gave him the ability to outduel just about anyone. This should take him back down a notch and make things more reasonable.

HOUSE KAMUHA (PERK)

  • Damage from Mortal Strikes can no longer crit

VOX

Crystal Vox’s resonance bounces during the laning phase makes it a little too easy to harass the enemy laner and translates into massive AoE damage during team fights. This will tone down his crystal path a bit while redistributing some of his power into weapon builds.

WARHAWK

Warhawk’s bravado just wasn’t enough to stand up to the villains in the last patch so we’re giving him a helping hand. This should make it easier for him to land an empowered basic attack after Rocket Ride as well as giving his ultimate more distinctive usage depending on his build path.

THE MIGHTY WARHAWK

Warhawk is a mighty mobile mage that uses his Rocket Launcher to deal damage and maneuver deftly around the battlefield. He excels at controlling large areas using  his Vacuum Grenade and Mightiest Barrage and can easily get himself out of trouble if enemies don’t CC him down. Get ready to zone the enemy and rule the map with this tiny but mighty Bleekos badboy.

 


HERO ABILITIES

MK-II ANNABELLE (PERK)

After casting an ability, Warhawk’s next basic attack has increased range and deals bonus CP damage.


ROCKET RIDE (A)

Warhawk fires a rocket that deals damage in a small AoE on impact. The blast from the gun is so powerful that the kickback sends Warhawk backwards at the same time.


VACUUM GRENADE (B)

Warhawk throws a grenade to a target location. Upon reactivation (or when it times out), it will detonate and pull enemy heroes towards the center, stunning those caught in the blast.

 


MIGHTIEST BARRAGE (Ultimate)

Warhawk takes aim and selects up to three locations before firing a missile to each marked spot, dealing damage on impact and scorching the ground. Enemy heroes standing in scorched areas take damage over time and are slowed.

HEALING BOMB (Rare)

Vacuum Grenade now also provides a substantial heal to allies in the blast radius.

 


ROCKETEER (Epic)

Rocket Ride’s knockback is greatly increased and deals increased damage.

Krul has been struggling for the last few updates, so we wanted to show him some love. This change should help him get to max stacks faster,  where he is most effective.

ITEMS


Atlas Pauldron was a niche item that specifically stopped attack speed carries that didn’t rely on their abilities. This created unclear gameplay as it was much more effective against heroes like Ringo while being fairly useless against heroes like Caine or Joule. With these changes Atlas Pauldron should be a solid purchase for any Captain when facing against a weapon power threat.

ATLAS PAULDRON

  • Debuff now also reduces outgoing weapon damage by 30%
